I write mirrors

Hoping people see themselves

in my poetry

“AVG” - Gabriel Angrand

  • Bio

Gabriel is a Haitian pastor's kid born in Massachusetts, raised in Ohio & now living in Philly. He's been writing poetry since the 4th grade and uses this medium to wrestle with faith, spirituality, romance, and social issues. With 2 books and publication in Our Hope Remains, he hopes to continue using poetry and Open Mic spaces to minister to young people, especially.

Over the course of his career, AVG has featured at churches, schools, colleges and several poetry events, even opening for his high school English teacher last year. And to begin the year 2024, AVG and 4 other poets in the Ripe Creatives Collective completed the first-ever Pass The Mic: Ripe Poetry Tour. AVG serves his church community, Jerusalem SDA Haitian Church, as an elder in training and supports students at Haverford College as an Assistant Director of the Office of Academic Resources.

“Through writing, we get to explore a more vulnerable spectrum of ourselves and unpack the colors that make up the sum of our light.”
